If you're traveling from Chicago, Illinois, the drive is roughly 55 miles. You'll begin by heading east on I-90 (Chicago Skyway) into Indiana, then merge onto I-65 South toward Indianapolis. Take Exit 240 for 109th Avenue, turn left onto E 109th Avenue, and continue until you reach the entrance to Doubletree Lake Estates in Winfield.

From Indianapolis, Indiana, the trip is just over 140 miles. Start by taking I-65 North toward Gary and Chicago. After passing through central Indiana, take Exit 240 for 109th Avenue, turn right onto E 109th Avenue, and follow the road to the community entrance in Winfield.

If you're coming from Fort Wayne, Indiana, expect a drive of around 135 miles. Begin by heading west on US-30 toward Merrillville, then briefly merge onto I-65 North. Take Exit 240 for 109th Avenue, turn right, and proceed to Doubletree Lake Estates.

Security

Doubletree Lake Estates is a truly gated community with on-site 24 hour security. All entrances are monitored by camera systems with information backup. Homeowners can purchase a car-mounted transponder for automated gate access. Guests can also utilize a self-help keyboard located on the side of the guard house to directly ring the homes of residents who in turn can buzz their guest access. A second, private resident entrance exists at the Northwest corner of the Doubletree Shopping Center. A future entrance will exist into the East side of the Doubletree Lake Estates subdivision from County Line Road. The security guards have a schedule that allows both guard house and community roving coverage.

Doubletree Lake

The lake is man-made and free of obstacles with an average depth of 15 feet. The HOA monitors water quality and it is known as one of the cleanest lakes in the region. A boat launch is located on the North end providing residents boating access for those who do not have docks.  There is a boat launch located on the North side of the Lake.

Walking/Biking Trails

An 8-foot asphalt walking/biking trail is adjacent to Doubletree Lake and provides scenic views of the lake, roaming topography, and gorgeous architecture.

Playground/Social Space

The Developer donated a 5-acre, lakefront park area to the Homeowners Association on the North west side of the Development. . The HOA is working on a plan to develop it for the residents.

HOA Committees

The homeowners participate in multiple committees to run and improve the Doubletree subdivision. The Social committee schedules events like Spring and Fall gatherings, Easter egg hunts, etc. The Beautification Committee has been very active in improving areas like the front gate, shorelines, and key locations around the Doubletree subdivision.

Shopping/Business Area

Water is provided by Indiana American Water Company. City sewers are provided by the Town of Winfield. Gas is provided by Nipsco. Electric is provided by REMC. Telephone and cable are provided by Comcast and AT&T. Trash service is provided by Allied Republic Waste.
